- Place the milk or water in a bowl
- Mix in icing sugar a little at a time until you get the consistency you require.
Yep, it's that simple.
For drizzling keep the mixture quite runny, for coating a cake a little stiffer, and for piping, a little stiffer still.
Don't worry if you make it too runny or stiff as you can always add more icing sugar or water.
If you're using liquid food colouring or flavouring you might need to add a little more icing sugar.
If you want to use lots of colours, make up one batch, then separate into little pots (or teacups, or glasses) to colour.
