Ingredients:

9oz/250g of self-raising flour

12oz/340g dog food (about 2 tins)

8 Tablespoons/125ml vegetable oil

4oz/110g sugar (optional - keep it savoury if possible)

4 eggs

1/2pint/250 ml of milk (add enough to make the mix spoonable)

Method:
  • Grease a 13”x9”(33cmx23cm) tin
  • Mix all the ingredients together, spoon into the tin, and bake for 35 minutes (or until cooked).
  • Let it cool for about 20 minutes before removing from the tin.
  • You can decorate the cake with your dog's favourite snacks, melted doggie chocolate, yoghurt, cottage cheese flavoured with anything from cinnamon to bacon bits, or even icing if your dog likes it.

Dogs can pretty much eat human food without too much trouble. BUT NOT CHOCOLATE. You will make your dog sick if you feed it chocolate. Luckily, there are lots of chocolate style products made especially for dogs which you can substitute. If you're dead set on sharing your pet's birthday cake, you might also want to consider carob - a chocolate substitute that both of you can eat.
