Sugarpaste shapes and airbrush:

I think my favourites for a balance of ease and looks would probably be the buttercream (love the idea of mixing colours in the piping bag) or cut sugarpaste (or marzipan.. but then I'm addicted to marzipan) shapes layered to make scales and fins. For those of us without an airbrush, I think that marbling the sugarpaste would probably work really well here.
